Round Robin

We now let you configure whether multiple locations each conduct checks at random (in isolation) or all at once (together).

If enabled, this gives the benefits of geographical redundancy without the overhead from simultaneous requests.

As an example, let’s say you have three locations and the frequency is set to one (1) minute:

Round Robin: Enabled

  • Minute 1
    • Location #2
  • Minute 2
    • Location #3
  • Minute 3
    • Location #1

Round Robin: Disabled

  • Minute 1
    • Location #1
    • Location #2
    • Location #3
  • Minute 2
    • Location #1
    • Location #2
    • Location #3
  • Minute 3
    • Location #1
    • Location #2
    • Location #3

It’s enabled by default and available on the Advanced tab when you add/edit a monitor.

If you have questions, please let us know.

This may prevent some checks from running properly at this location.

We will post more updates as they are available.

Update: We have confirmation that service has been restored.

SSL & TLS for SMTP Monitors

Our SMTP monitors now have full support for SSL and TLS encryption!

This lets you specify how the monitor will establish secure connections.

So, for example, here’s how to test Google’s Mail Servers:

  • smtp.gmail.com:465 (SSL)
  • smtp.gmail.com:587 (TLS)

If you have questions, please let us know.

Thanks to Henrik (one of our customers) for helping test this.

ICMP (Ping) Monitors

We now offer ICMP (Ping) monitors!

This lets you monitor any endpoint with a simple ICMP message (Ping).

Some of our competitors “fake” pings with TCP or UDP packets. This doesn’t work (ICMP is lower-level).

Our ICMP (Ping) monitors are the real deal – give them a try and tell us what you think.

If you have questions, please let us know.

Thanks to Volkan (one of our customers) for helping test this.
